With 467 brokers registered, the UAC Prism x Cogneesol 2026 Brisbane Market Exchange delivered another strong result for our 2026 Market Exchange program.
The floor remained busy throughout the day and welcomed 12 new members exhibiting for the first time, highlighting the continued growth and diversity of our community.
Brisbane set a strong benchmark for the second half of the year, with the UAC 2026 Adelaide Market Exchange on 12 August next to take centre stage.
Broker registrations are open via the UAC Market Exchange app.
UAC recently lodged a submission in response to the Insurance Council of Australia's consultation on the draft General Insurance Code of Practice, ensuring the practical realities facing underwriting agencies were reflected throughout the review.
While we support initiatives that strengthen consumer confidence and improve industry standards, we also believe it's important that any new obligations are practical, proportionate and do not create unnecessary cost or complexity for insurers, agencies or ultimately policyholders.
Our submission focused on three key areas:
Contractual enforceability - We supported the intent behind strengthening the Code but recommended that contractual enforcement be limited to clearly defined and significant obligations, rather than applying broadly across all provisions. This helps reduce unnecessary compliance costs while maintaining strong consumer protections.
Customer vulnerability - We strongly support providing additional care to customers experiencing vulnerability. Our submission highlighted the need for clear and workable guidance, recognising that identifying vulnerability is often not straightforward and requires practical implementation across the industry.
Breach reporting - We welcomed greater alignment with existing legislative reporting timeframes and encouraged further consistency across regulatory reporting obligations to reduce duplication and allow businesses to focus their efforts on addressing issues rather than reporting the same matter multiple times.
We appreciate the opportunity to contribute to the review and will continue advocating for a Code that delivers strong consumer outcomes while remaining practical and sustainable for the businesses responsible for implementing it.
